By placing bets with magic, you are able to heighten your WAGER- But losing comes with a destructive cost. Losing a WAGER bet harms not only yourself, but those around you with a dangerous magical explosion. The higher your wager, the better your luck is, or the stronger your magic; Humans are statistically born with higher WAGERs. In this world, Humans are born with better luck, but no magic; and monsters get the magic.
The human race saw the Monster's magic as a threat, and waged a war; Because humans are naturally born with higher WAGERs, they won the war with few casualties; The monsters, however, suffered greatly. There were thousands of deaths before they were sealed underground.
